Drake Bell mourns death of his former girlfriend Stevie Ryan: ‘My heart is crushed’
Drake Bell expressed his heartbreak about Stevie Ryan’s death on social media.
Actor Drake Bell mourned the loss of his former girlfriend Stevie Ryan after the YouTube star died in an apparent suicide.
Bell expressed his heartbreak in a pair of emotional tweets Monday, hours after reports emerged that Ryan had taken her own life on July 1 at her Los Angeles residence.
"No no no!!!! I can NOT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!!!! Please wake me from this nightmare @StevieRyan I loved you and will forever miss you!" Bell tweeted.
He continued to share his sorrow in a second post, writing, "This is too much. My heart is crushed. @StevieRyan I love you and miss you…"
Bell and Ryan dated between 2005 and 2006, according to E! News.
Ryan, 33, was discovered by her parents on Saturday afternoon, with the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office ruling her death a suicide by hanging.
The actress rose to fame during the 2000s due to her viral videos where she impersonated celebrities like Justin Bieber, Amy Winehouse, Paris Hilton and more – in addition to creating her own wacky characters.
The viral success of those videos — some even racked up several millions of views — landed her a VH1 series called "Stevie TV," on which she continued to parody celebrities while giving her original characters an even larger platform.
That show ran from 2013 to 2014.
Most recently, Ryan was hosting a podcast called "Mentally Ch(ill)." She spoke about her struggles with depression both on that show as well as on social media.
Her co-host on the show, Kristen Carney, told the Daily News on Monday that she was "shocked" to learn of her friend’s passing.
"I knew she wasn’t doing well, but I didn’t think it was at this point," Carney said. "She was just so sad. I just didn’t realize how sad."
